OPTIONS SEEN Art Exhibition –
One of the highlights of 2020 at OPTIONS was the Official Launch of our SEEN Art Exhibition.
The OPTIONS SEEN Art Exhibition showcases the artwork of our talented artists. We were very excited to welcome Liesl Tesch MP to officially declare our SEEN Art Exhibition open on International Day of People with Disability on 3 December, 2020.
Liesl visited our Edible Garden at Kariong for a VIP Tour and enjoyed a meet and greet with our Artists, Participants and Staff. The OPTIONS Catering Crew prepared and served a delicious range of treats for Afternoon Tea as Liesl explored our OPTIONS Edible Garden Café and Print Room and was escorted on a guided tour of the magical Edible Garden.
We all enjoyed spending time with Liesl who left with some ‘take away’ treats and even bought a selection of crafts and goodies from our Christmas Stall. Thanks Liesl!!
Normally we hold our annual OPTIONS Art Exhibition and launch event at Erina Fair and we invite the public to join us. Due to the NSW Health Covid Restrictions, we were unable to hold this event, so we set up a Pop Up Gallery in the Edible Gardens. We still wanted everyone to be able to enjoy the artworks so we also created the SEEN Virtual Art Exhibition online.
Liesl cut the official red ribbon to declare the exhibition open and we all cheered as the SEEN Art Virtual Exhibition went live online. The Virtual Gallery can be viewed online offering an inclusive and interactive screen experience for everyone to enjoy. (see links below)
The 2020 SEEN Virtual Art Exhibition is the first time that Options Disability Support has explored the potential for a Virtual Exhibition. We were very excited to develop an online space to showcase the Art and Photography created by our participants throughout the year.
About the SEEN Art Exhibition Theme
The ‘SEEN’ theme explores the idea of:
- what is to be seen
- how we are seen
- how we see each other
Inspiration for this exhibition has been ‘SEEN’ from many different perspectives:
- our environment
- our own state of mind
- and each other
During 2020, many of our programs faced challenging restrictions, but the OPTIONS Photography Groups were still able to get out and about and capture some stunning images. These were submitted to be considered for inclusion in the OPTIONS 2021 Calendar. The final images which were chosen for the OPTIONS 2021 Calendar are on display in the Photography section of the SEEN Virtual Art Exhibition.
